Risk assessment Conditional
Purpose and function of the section
The ‘Risk Assessment‘ section documents potential hazards posed by an object. These may include, for example, biological hazards (mould, insect infestation) or chemical contamination (pollutants, acid corrosion). Event-based modelling records each risk assessment carried out as a separate event with associated contextual information (Who? When? What hazard? What measures?). This recording enables risk situations to be traced and the way in which they were dealt with to be documented. This can be important for operational and safety measures, as well as for communication with other departments or institutions, e.g. in the case of loans or transport.
This section is Conditionally mandatory: it forms part of the documentation only if hazards have actually been identified during conservation work.

Implementation notes
Multiple risk assessments can be documented chronologically by repeating the entire section, for example if the situation changes (e.g. following the implementation of protective measures) or if new hazards are identified at different points in time.
